A summary…

Website complete finished and online at http://colloquy-type.com.

The project was an experiment to see if I could get type to autonomously respond to the emotive content that it was writing and has largely been successful.

The website is a messaging system, a search engine and a newsreader in one. Each offers up a different way of looking at this typeface I have created and gives it a different context.

Throughout the course of the project, it has become apparent that is it indefinite and I am pleased with the choice of a website for the final outcome. The project will hopefully begin it’s life here and expand and develop into something bigger and a website will allow me to do this. There are already a handful of additions I want to add to the website which hopefully I can begin to add post-assessment.

Professional feedback

Sent the website around to some contacts for professional feedback this morning. I am keen to get some validation from industry and professional practitioners.  Building the website and all it’s parts has pushed me right up to the deadline so it’s unlikely that I will get much if any for hand-in tomorrow. However, this feedback can be added to the website at a later date as and when I receive it.

Hand-in - Acrylic cards

Got the engraved acrylic cards back from CutLaserCut today. They look really, really great. Because there is a minimum sized sheet they can cut, there’s a few options - different sizes, positioning etc. - but good old 12pt type, bang in the middle seems to be doing it for me at the moment.

As the project nears completion, I’d like to highlight the three prototypes that were made to get to this point.

They’ve each been an invaluable step in my process to achieving what I have. You can view them here: -

Hand-in object

Because there is no physical outcome to the project; everything exists online I need to come up with a physical item to hand-in come June 1st.

The above is what I have been toying with, it’d be layer cut onto red transparent acrylic. The typeface, colour and potentially an image echoing the project. Looking at some samples today it’d be a really nice object, weighty. SO much nicer than just getting a web address on a business card.
